Thomas Duncan-Watt: Writer

Thomas Duncan-Watt is a three-time Australian Screenwriters Guild Award (AWGIE) winning screenwriter and showrunner. Among his credits are Australia’s highest-rating drama series, Home & Away and sci-fi series Space Nova, on which he served as Script Editor/Head Writer/Showrunner. In 2022, Thomas was awarded the prestigious John Hinde Award for Excellence in Science Fiction for one of his Space Nova scripts – only the second time in the Hinde’s history the annual $10,000 prize was awarded for work on an animated series.

He is also the co-creator and writer of That Golden Girls Show: A Puppet Parody, a stage play that debuted at Sydney’s Comedy Store as Thank You for Being a Friend before being quickly snapped up and licensed internationally. The show has run every year since its inception, enjoying hit tours of Australia, the USA, and Canada as well as multiple successful runs Off-Broadway.

In 2022 Thomas signed a two-book deal with a major publisher. His debut book is set for release in June 2024.

Currently, Thomas is working on the development of his original comedy series The Eerie Chapters of Chhaya, which won the ‘Kindred’ CBC and ABC co-production initiative in 2022 (up against more than 200 other professional applications). He lives between Sydney and Los Angeles, where his original drama spec The Night Mover recently placed as a finalist in Big Break, made it to Coverfly’s Red List, and was named one of the top 100 pilots of the year by Screencraft.
