Simon Rippingale: Director and Animator

Simon is a director and animator based in Sydney, Australia. His work has been nominated for three AACTA awards, twice for short animation and once for visual effects, winning the 2014 AACTA award for best short animation. Simon’s work featured as a finalist in the Dendy Awards at the Sydney Film Festival. He has also won gold award at the AEAF awards and best short film at the Brisbane International Film festival. Simon’s animation work is currently featured at the: Brisbane Area Gallery Australian Animation 1973 – 2021.

• Jarli: Animation. Co/directed by Chantelle Murray. Produced by Ryan Greaves.
• Birth Time: Documentary. Animation Director.
• Smashing 2020: Video Artwork. Co directing with Louis Pratt.
• Jasper: Winner of a Gold award at the 2018 AEAF awards in Sydney.
• A Cautionary Tail: Animation. Starring Cate Blanchett, David Wenham and Barry Otto. Finalist in the Dendy awards at the 2013 Sydney Film Festival and Winner of an AACTA for best animation.
• Magic Playground and My Naughty Shadow: Animation Director for Digital App / Games.
• Orchids: Animation director. Documentary. Nominated for an IF award for best documentary 2011.
• Director at Flying Fish: Directing music videos for Sony, Universal Music, EMI and Warners. 2006 – 2010
• Unfolding Florence. Animation Director: Directed by Gillian Armstrong, 2006. In competition at Sundance.
• The 3G of Us: Animation Director for the SBS series
