Dylan Hesp: Writer

Known for his hilarious and empathetic characters, Dylan Hesp is a stand-up comedian, writer and actor, who brings the loveable losers of our world to life on both the screen and stage.

Launching onto the stand-up scene in 2012, Dylan was chosen to perform in the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s prestigious Raw Comedy National Final, and since then has gone on to support acts like Sam Simmons, Dave O’Neill, Lehmo & Cal Wilson.

Online, Dylan’s character comedy shorts have received over a million views and have been viewed and shared by a growing audience around the globe who keep returning to Dylan’s unique brand of comedy.

In 2017, Dylan co-created and starred in the multi-platform comedy series Australia’s Best Street Racer, as part of Screen Australia and Screen Tasmania’s Comedy Concentrate initiative. Street Racer was met with overwhelming industry response, with the ABC’s Head of Comedy claiming “He hadn’t seen character acting like this since Chris Lilley!”

With more Street Racer episodes in development with Screen Tasmania and Screen Australia, Dylan is also writing and producing a variety of projects for multi-platform through his production company Blur Films such as Shards, a revenge western for Short Form about the ice epidemic in northern Tasmania (Funded by Screen Tasmania, Script Editor – Vicki Madden) and the documentary, The Small Town Drifter, a short form documentary series following a Tasmanian youth worker from a town of 4000 on his journey to drift competitively (motorsport) in Japan (Funded by SBS & Screen Tasmania)

Dylan was recently handpicked by the team at Jungle Entertainment to star in his breakout role alongside Sacha Horler and Phil Lloyd in Sando, which was recently seen on ABC TV.
