Anna Lindner: Writer
Anna is an actor and writer, hailing from country South Australia, who spent most of her childhood trying to roller-skate on dirt roads flanked only by the panicked eyes of onlooking sheep. Anna’s web series, ‘A Beginner’s Guide to Grief ‘ was produced by Kojo Studios, as a part of sbs’ Digital Originals initiative and premiered in September 2022 – Anna wrote and stars in the drama comedy series which explores themes of death, grief and identity. The series won the AACTA Award for Best Digital Series.
In 2020, Anna was a finalist in the AACTA Pitch: Regional landscapes with her feature film, Big Things. Anna won the 2019 Screen Makers Conference’s Pitch-o-rama competition with her original web series concept and won the Pitch iView Award at the 2018 Melbourne Web Fest for her web series pitch, ‘The Dash’. In 2018, Anna was the recipient of the Screenwriters Residency in Marseille, France as part of the Marseille Web Fest, also receiving an honourable mention for her screen pitch at the Marseille Web Fest Awards night. In 2017, she received the Screen Australia GENDER MATTERS new screenwriters initiative, Smart For A Girl: ROAR, granting her guidance from Australian storytelling powerhouses, Alice Bell & Imogen Banks. She has previously judged on the panels of Raw Comedy heats, Adelaide Fringe and the Adelaide International Women’s Film Festival, and has played stage host for various music festivals and events.
Anna is also a practising artist, focused on creating immersive art experiences that investigate the secret worlds of human behaviour and our desire to seek absolution & relief from ourselves.
She’s also worked with the dead. But that’s a whole other story.
